about

Long out of print, Insomnolence was both Zero Times Infinity & Voidstar Production's first full length recording, released in 1995, 20 years ago. The recording is focused on minimalism and repetitious sound as a tool to lower conscious defenses against hypnosis and control through subliminal messages.

From the original 1995 release notes: To give away the messages would unfortunately defeat the experiment's purposes, but Voidstar Productions welcomes questions.

Instrumentation used includes walkie talkies, keyboards, pocket change, junk, broken car horns, radios, static, glass, human voices, guitar, and other sound creating devices...

2015 notes:

This was the beginning of Zero Times Infinity. Started fresh out of college by Deftly-D, Rick Destephano and Chris 'the Hex' Castiglione while being rather broke and limited on instruments and recording tools.

Deftly wanted to make Zero Times Infinity a project that avoided as much as possible all of the musical influences that the members were familiar with to attempt to find new ground and truly experiment. Artists like Nurse With Wound, Iannis Xenakis and SPK were not yet on their radar but would be mentioned by people that heard this first recording.

Zero Times Infinity is a project that could be said to be dedicated towards experimentation, hypnosis, and minimalism, Except that Zero Times Infinity is not dedicated to anything.
A subtlety of sound defines Zero Times Infinity, and yet there is no actual definition of the sound.
Ambient, Noise, Trance, New Age, Industrial, it is all meaningless and oxymoronic.
It has all been done before. But does that invalidate a failed attempt at originality?

END of original liner notes from Insomnolence

"Zero Times Infinity are an important band in an historic sense because their creation is at once the history and future of experimental music. You can hear the full lineage of Dadaist approach in their artistic genius. Every device a tool used to communicate with the listener through sonic experience. This is the experimental music of the soul that the avant-garde has hinted at, but rarely produced. ZTI has removed the cheese then skimmed the cream from a wide variety of influences, and forged a direction all their own." - review of Insomnolence from Steve Pavao a.k.a. Mercymore
